Chapter 4: Share Using LionShare >> The Library Window

The Library window is accessed through the Library Application tab at the top of the window. Once this tab is selected, the Library window becomes available to manage the users shared resources.  The following description provides an overview of the functionality of the Library window.

Application tabs – These tabs provide the ability to toggle between different functionality of the LionShare application. By default, this will include a Search and Library.  The Library tab will be highlighted to show that the user is currently using the Library window.  The user can switch to the Search functionality of the application by simply selecting the appropriate Search tab.

View types – Allows the user to look at search results in different ways.  These include:

View as List - This view provides a list view of the files including small thumbnails for each file. The files are sorted by image or a file name, and the file settings such as file size, last modification, and sharing status are shown.
Icon View  – This view shows an icon with a file name below. Since the icons and the file names are larger than those in the View as List Format, this view provides larger thumbnail images and makes images more recognizable.
View as Image Collection – This view shows only images as small thumbnails, and brief file names are underneath the images. Click on individual images to see more details such as file size and sharing status.

Network and Shared File Organizer – The Network and Shared File Organizer allow for the viewing of Local and Network resources shared by the user. nServers provide file sharing services to users who are not currently using the LionShare application. These will be listed in the organizer under the heading of Network.

    Organizer pull-down – Allows user to choose to view All, Local or Network shared resources
    Local – Shared files located on the individuals personal computer
    Network – Shared files located by the user on the nServers.

Share File Information – Information is provided about each share file, located above the file list. The following is provided:

    Filename – Provides the file name that matches the search
    Filesize – Provides information on the size of the file
    Last Modified – Provides a date on which the file was last modified
    Permissions – Provides feedback on whether permissions have been added to a shared file
    Shared – Provides the ability for the user to specify to share or not to share a file

Action tabs – The Action tabs are located below the Share File listing.  These contain various actions that allow the user to describe, launch, refresh window, or add permissions.

    Add – Allows user to add files to a shared folder
    Delete ¬– Allows user to delete a file from a shared folder
    Describe – Opens the metadata editor to place descriptive information on a selected file
    Launch – Allows user to Launch a selected file
    Refresh – Refreshes the listing to have the most current view
    Permissions – Allows the user to add permission on who has access to a particular shared file

Folder Management tabs – Folder management tabs allow the user to create, modify and delete folders. They are located in the lower left corner of the screen.
 
    Add Folder – Allows a user to create a new folder
    Edit Folder – Allows a user to edit the name of a shared folder
    Delete Folder – Allows a user to delete a shared folder

Footer Icons – These icons provides status feedback from the application and link to collaboration features of LionShare.  The following icons are represented from left to right and are located at the very bottom of the screen:
   
    Left side:
    Connectivity – Represent how many Ultra-Peers to whom the user is connected
    Fire-walled – Represents whether or not the application thinks it sits behind a firewall
    Files Shared – Provides feedback on the number of files the user is sharing
    Right side:
    User’s name – Give the name of the authenticated user
    Login status – Tells whether the user is logged in or not logged in
    Chat window – Provides a quick link to the LionShare chat window
    Buddy List – Provides a quick link to the LionShare buddy list for chat
