The LionShare Search Window automatically appears after logging in using a User ID and Password or accessing LionShare through the Limited Mode of operation. The LionShare Search Window has several components.
Application tabs – These tabs provide the ability to toggle between different functionality of the LionShare application. By default, this will include a Search and Library. The Search tab will be highlighted to show that the user is currently in the Search window. The user can switch to the Library functionality of the application by simply selecting the appropriate Library tab.
Active search requests – As new searches are created, they are added as an active search tab and given a name based on the search terms. By selecting one of the active search tabs, the user will be directed to the Search Results page for that particular search.
Search domains – Search domains describe the location where the user would like to direct the search. Each of these choices can be configured for the individual user to search specific resources location on the network. There are three choices:
LionShare – Directs searches to the LionShare network of other Peers and nServers
Repositories – Directs searches to multiple repositories at the same time
Local – Searches all files the user is sharing to the network
Search field – This is the location where the user enters a search string to be sent to the network to retrieve results.
Search button – The search button activates the search query to the network bases on the search domains selected by the user and the text string that has been entered.
Footer Icons – These icons provides status feedback from the application and link to other collaboration features of LionShare. The following icons are represented from left to right.
Left side:
Connectivity – Represent how many Ultra-Peers to whom the user is connected
Fire-walled – Represents whether or not the application thinks it sits behind a firewall
Files Shared – Provides feedback on the number of files the user is sharing
Right side:
User’s name – Give the name of the authenticated user
Login status – Tells whether the user is logged in or not logged in
Chat window – Provides a quick link to the LionShare chat window
Buddy List – Provides a quick link to the LionShare buddy list for chat
To start a search:
1. Log on to LionShare; the Search window will open; If LionShare is already opened, click on the New Search tab at the top.
2. In the middle of the window, check the LionShare box as a search domain (the default).
3. Below the LionShare box, type in a keyword in the Search text box.
4. Select Search and the search results will appear.
To close an existing a search from search window:
1. From the Search window, locate the active search tabs on the upper right of the screen.
2. Select the close box next to the search term title.
3. That particular search will be terminated.
To toggle between active searches:
1. From the Search window, locate the active search tabs on the upper right of the screen.
2. If multiple searches are happening at the same, select a particular tab to view the results.
