LionShare Demo Checklist

Summary

This document is as a checklist for demonstrating the LionShare Peer version 1.1. This checklist is for a full demo which should take between 45 to 60 minutes depending on the pace of the presenter.

Introduction

Depending on the audience, its probably a good idea to give a general overview of the project and its deliverables.

Startup

  • Test the network connectivity and launching of the application before the demostration
  • Make sure to have some files and folders in your default shared folder
  • If you plan on demonstrating PeerServer search and management, add an nFolder to the library tab.
  • Start the application before hooking up the projector leaving it on with splash screen and authentication prompt
  • Demonstrate the authentication process.

Search

  • Interface overview
    • Tabbed based interface
    • Multiple search types (local, lionshare peers and peerservers, repositories via ecl)
    • Multiple searches simultaneously
  • Basic Search Demo
    • Search for something which will produce a lot of hits like 'jpg' or 'png'
    • Describe the results listing
      • Change to icon view
      • Mouseover images in icon view
    • Click view metadata on a search result
    • Download the search result
    • Create a new search and this time select Repositories
      • Click the Repository configuration tool and talk about the various repositories.
      • Do a sample Repositories search on a topic like “Biology”
    • Show how clicking on an Repositories search result will launch a browser

Library Tab

  • The Library Tab is where sharing and organizational features of Lionshare are located
  • 3 folder types
    • Physical Folders (regular folders that are located in the file system of the host os)
    • Folders (allow you to organize different files from different locations in to one location but does not physically move the files.. think windows shortcuts or symbolic links)
    • Network Folders (network folders located on Lionshare peerservers)
  • Folder demo
    • Show the content of your shared folder
    • Demonstrated the various views available
      • List view (default)
      • Icon view
      • Image Collection
    • Demonstrate the Slideshow option in the image collection view
    • Add a folder to be shared
    • Launch a file such as video file from Shared folder
  • Metadata demo
    • Select a file that will have automated metadata such as a JPG with EXIF
    • Automated metadata strategy
      • Current file support for automated metadata
        • JPG EXIF
        • MS WORD
        • OpenOffice
        • PDF
        • IMS Content Package
    • Schema support
      • IEEELOM
      • Dublin Core
      • internal LionShare schemas
  • Folder
    • Create a new Folder
    • Add two files from different locations in to the new vFolder
  • Network Folder
    • Add a file to the public folder
    • Right click and copy URL
    • Copy and paste the URL for the file in a browser
    • Create a new folder
    • upload a file and show the metadata persistence
