Real World Example: Improved Peer 2 Peer Networking

  • LionShare links many different credible resources so the search is expanded and directed with more usable, qualified results
  • Personal pictures, videos, reports, and presentations that are currently not accessible through the internet will now be available and conveniently organized with management tools

Real world example: There are three professors in geology departments at different universities that rely on PowerPoint presentations to illustrate their lectures. Bringing in pictures of the geological formations that they are discussing helps the students to truly understand the concepts. One experienced professor has spent many years in the field collecting pictures of rock formations in many different National Parks, and abroad. The other two professors are new, have not traveled much and do not have personal collections of images to aid their lectures.

Without LionShare: The lengthy search for digital materials wastes the time of professors every year. The two new professors waste a lot of time searching the web for pictures, and never find exactly what they need.

With LionShare: LionShare will allow the experienced professor to label his digital pictures with specific geological terms that precisely describe the geological context of the pictures. This descriptive task will be drastically simplified by tools built into LionShare. A simple click of the mouse will then make his pictures available to everyone or to just those he specifies (restricted by individual userIDs, courses, departments, institutions, etc). These precise descriptions will serve to both help focus the search of other professors and to provide them with the detailed information they need for their lectures.
